Back to the Basics

After the marathon of painting all the downtown businesses of Kalispell in plein air, it has been good to get back to the studio a bit and work on some projects that have been put on the back burner.  It has also been fun to do some natural themed works after painting so many buildings.

The Center of Town, Oil on Canvas   5"x7"
This is a smaller work that I have created in the studio recently for the Art Walk.  The courthouse in downtown Kalispell is quite striking at night.

East Side Fall, Oil on Canvas   4"x6"
I liked the little plein air of this so much, I created a smaller work in studio for the art walk.

Suzie's Garden, Oil on Canvas   9"x12"
This is a studio piece based off of a smaller study.  I wanted to capture more of the leaves on the grass and the textures of the various fall colored trees.

McDonald Rainbow, Oil on Canvas   16"x20"
Mcdonald Creek in Glacier National Park boasts crystal clear turquoise water.  The wet rocks took on a variety of hues on this warm summer day.

Meandering Through the Grounds, Oil on Canvas   8"x10"
The Conrad Mansion has lovely landscaped grounds and the pastel colored flowers were in all their splendor on this crisp fall afternoon.

Skeletons on the Porch, Oil on Canvas   14"x11"
A Trick or Treater approaches the porch of this stateley east side mansion on a Halloween night.

The Blue Cove, Oil on Canvas   8"x10"
Lake McDonald was a vivid blue on this warm summer day in Glacier Park.

The Chairs at Colter, Oil on Canvas   8"x6"
Colter Coffee is known by the multi colored chairs which were the center of this inviting scene on a summer morning.
