A lot like Christmas

Winter came suddenly and everything is covered in a beautiful white blanket of white snow.  This is a fun season to paint in Montana... if you bundle up.

'Little Mountain Village'  oil on canvas 6"x8" The little Montana hamlet of Bigfork slows down a little bit in the winter, but is still a cozy place to spend an evening out. It is a truly charming place with its street lamps aglow and awnings covered in fresh snow.  After painting this I enjoyed a hot cup of soup at Show Thyme restaurant with the Bigfork couple who purchased this work.  That was a welcome surprise and made the evening very memorable.

'Winter Roses'  oil on canvas 9"x12" This pink roses were wonderfully arranged by Flowers by Hansen in downtown Kalispell. The pink roses were set in the mist of gray blue/green foliage which set them off perfectly.  I painted this on location at last nights 'Taste and See' event.

'Winter Sun'  oil on canvas 6"x8" The sun shone brightly on this cold winter morning along this little path on the edge of woodland Park in Kalispell and was a nice break from the gray weather that can persist for weeks at a time.

'A Warm Welcome'  oil on canvas 6"x8" This is my first snow nocturne plein air which I painted in my front yard looking up my road. A lone car made its way closer to home on a moonlit winter night.

'Crystal Neighborhood'  oil on canvas 5"x7" This is my third plein air of Fifth St. in Kalispell's East Side neighborhood.  It has been fun to capture it in summer , fall and now winter to show how the changing seasons dramatically change this beautiful tree-lined street.
