Oh So Blue

With impossibly blue skies and temps in the 70's, it has been perfect plein air painting weather this last week in Montana.

The Bride and the Groom, Oil on Canvas   6"x8"

The Bellevue Club is situated on the east end of picturesque Lake Merritt.  It is a five story french style chateau with a stunning grand ballroom and even fine art inspired by Glacier National Park in the lobby.  It is a great place to get married  as my brother Kyle and his wife Samantha can attest to.

Hitting Its Peak, Oil on Canvas   6"x8"
Tractors are some of my favorite subjects to paint.  This little green on was perched atop a little rise with a stunning Montana skyscape as the backdrop.

Teal Shore, Oil on Canvas   6"x8"

Ashley Lake is known for its vivid blue crystal waters and it did not disappoint on this day.  The rocks along the shore created a nice pattern and showed interesting contrast in their wet and dry portions.

The Secret Recipe, Oil on Canvas   6"x8"
The colorful awnings at the Kalispell KFC have drawn my eye for some time.  I managed to get out and finally paint it on this bright blue spring day.
Cloud Cover, Oil on Canvas   4"x6"
Great cloud cover drifted over Smith Valley and cast Black Tail Ski Mountain in shadow.

Mountain Arches, Oil on Canvas   6"x8"

The Kalispell McDonald's has the majestic Swans as a backdrop.

Sky Study, Oil on Canvas   5"x7"

The sky was so clear and blue today that I painted this little study attempting to capture its impossible blue.
